Hello everybody,

The third annual Yosemite Facelift is scheduled for this fall, September 27 - October 1 2006.

The "Yosemite Facelift" is an organized intensive Park wide trash cleanup. We will be in front of the Visitor Center all five days from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to sign people in and we will be passing out garbage bags, litter sticks, and any other tools that may be needed. By signing in you will be creating revenue for Yosemite National Park. We will have crew leaders that will organize the workers and focus on specific problem areas in the Park. We will do a better job if the volunteers can show up at 8:00 a.m. to choose or receive assignments. If you can't be there by 8:00 come by when you can, there will be plenty to do. The trash that is gathered needs to be returned to the Visitor Center by 5:00 p.m. for weighing and for sorting out the recyclables. This is important so that we know which areas have been cleaned so that we know where to clean the next day.

I realize that there are people that already have plans in the Park. These people can still participate in the program by coming by and picking up a trash bag and then go about their plans spending some time cleaning up the area that they are enjoying.

If you can not make it to the event but, would like to support it you can make a monetary pledge for every pound of trash that is picked up or make a donation. This money will help pay for the cleanup. Any extra money will go to Yosemite Climbing Association and help their efforts to develop a climbing museum in Yosemite Valley. These can be sent to Yosemite Climbing Association, P.O. Box 89, Yosemite, CA. 95389.

Every participant will receive a raffle ticket for every day that they work. The raffle will be held from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Lower River Amphitheatre.

We are hoping to have 1,000 volunteers over the five day period this year. By meeting in front of the Visitor Center this event will have a high profile and hopefully increase awareness of the impact that Park users have on the Park. It has been great to see all the interest and cooperation from the Park Partners, the Sponsors, and the participants. Thank you all.

Thank you,
Ken Yager
