Charlie Porter Slider Nut

A #5 Charlie Porter Slider Nut that was designed for parallel cracks. He used opposing Chouinard Stoppers  with one fixed and the other moveable on swaged cable. He made them in his shop down the Merced River from the Valley at what is now the Bryceburg Visitor Center. They came in 5 sizes and were one of the first pieces of gear to tackle the challenge of protecting Yosemite's parallel cracks before Ray Jardine came up with the modern cam which Jardine called the Friend.
